DIY Neem and Mint Toothpaste

If you are anything like me, you have a little too much faith in the purchases you make. If you tell me it is natural, I believe it is natural. If you tell me it is organic, I believe it is organic. If you tell me it is healthful, I believe that it is healthful. That being said, a bit of my innocence was lost the day I read the tube of my Tom’s toothpaste and found the dreaded ingredient: carrageenan.  In Tom’s? Say what? I was pretty upset and vowed that I was never going to waste extra money on “organic” toothpaste again. As it turns out, making your own toothpaste is actually easier than trying to pick one out at the store.

Neem and Mint Toothpaste Recipe

Ingredients

  • 10 tablespoons baking soda
  • 10 tablespoons coconut oil
  • ½ teaspoon fine sea salt (course will hurt your gums)
  • 10 drops of a mint essential oil: wintergreen, peppermint, spearmint
  • 10 drops tea tree oil
  • 1 “squirt” neem oil

Instructions

  1. Simply place all of the ingredients in the Baby Bullet Batch Bowl, and blend until it is a whipped, pasty consistency.
  2. Spoon into 4 oz. mason jars or you can also purchase empty toothpaste tubes right on Amazon. (They are lined in aluminum, however…)
  3. The process really is THAT easy and it costs cents to the dollar to make at home.

Here’s to sparkling teeth and a fatter wallet!
