Caramel Applesauce

Every time I make applesauce, I’m reminded how it’s probably the easiest thing to do. It has little to no prep, and you could switch up the flavors to whatever your heart, or you little baby’s heart, desires!

Recently, my little one was getting FOUR of her molars at the same time, and, needless to say, she was not happy. Eating was not her favorite thing, unless it was cold or sweet. During this time, it was applesauce and popsicles that came to the rescue! I loved that I could make it at home virtually hassle-free, instead of loading her up with store bought, sugar-laden applesauce.

Caramel Applesauce

  • 8 gala apples
  • 12 dates, pitted
  • 1 cup apple juice (may require a little more for desired thickness, or the addition of water)
  • 3 Tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp. nutmeg

  1. Peel and dice the apples and place them in a saucepan, along with the dates, apple juice, syrup, and spices.
  2. Cook on medium/low heat for 20-30 minutes, until the apples are soft. Stir the mixture every so often.
  3. Once cooled to room temperature, divide the mixture in the Baby Bullet and blend until creamy. Once it’s all blended, add it back to the sauce pan. Add more liquid if the applesauce is too thick, and adjust seasonings to your taste.
  4. Let cool, cover, and refrigerate. Enjoy throughout the week!
