Baby Kale and Basil Pesto

We make traditional pesto sauce more healthy by adding a handful of greens, like baby kale, to the mix along with leaves from our basil plant. Baby penne and macaroni are a popular pairing choice for our toddler. She loves picking the noodles up with her fingers and eating them one by one. You can adjust the recipe by adding spinach or other healthy greens.

Baby Kale and Basil Pesto

Ingredients

  • 1 cup basil leaves
  • 1 cup baby kale leaves
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese
  • 1/3 cup walnuts
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp pepper

Instructions

  1. Add the basil, kale and walnuts to a Baby Bullet pitcher and pulse.
  2. Add the cheese, garlic, salt pepper and olive oil and blend until smooth.

Makes 1 cup
