Apple Mash – First Food

Apple sauce is the perfect first food to start on your 4-month old baby. Apples are great on babies tummies. Even to this day, I find apple sauce to be the best on my tummy if I am feeling queasy. This is a super fruit, curing stomach disorders, constipation, and diarrhea in babies. It’s recommended that all fruits used to feed an infant should be steamed or cooked (bananas and avocados being an obvious exception) for easy digestion.

As your baby starts to grow up, you introduce more foods into his or her diet by mixing apples with other fun food purees (apples and oatmeal is a great pair, by the way). As for now, when starting with new foods at 4-6 months old, make sure you test out this one food for 3 days straight to make sure your baby doesn’t develop any allergies to that food. You can also consult your doctor for more information.

  2. In the Baby Bullet Steamer, add the apples and steam on setting 4.
  3. Add the cooled, steamed, apples in the Baby Bullet and blend till smooth.
  4. If you find the puree is to thick, try adding 1-2 tbs of water or breast milk to make a smooth consistency.
